Underwater Leader

What is a PADI Divemaster?

A PADI Divemaster is a dedicated and highly skilled professional within the scuba diving community, playing a crucial role in enabling safe and enjoyable diving experiences for others.

As the first professional-level scuba diving certification, the PADI Divemaster Course empowers you to lead certified divers on thrilling underwater excursions and assist PADI instructors during training sessions like the PADI Open Water program for example.

Besides these duties, divemasters are also responsible for essential operational tasks, including equipment setup, tank filling, and managing dive operations at a dive centre. This role requires a combination of strong diving expertise and excellent leadership skills.

Given the rigorous training in the PADI Divemaster Course, those who achieve this certification are regarded as some of the most experienced and capable divers in the industry.

You will also have to master your water skills, such as the 400-metre swim and 15-minute water tread, just to name a few. The week concludes with completing Part 1 of the Divemaster Exam.

The second week continues with knowledge development and includes assisting with various courses. You will participate in numerous workshops that include open water dives, helping you apply your newfound diving skills in real-world scenarios.

In the final week, you’ll complete any outstanding workshops and start shadowing qualified Divemasters. This involves leading dives under supervision, providing you with hands-on experience. The week wraps up with the completion of Part 2 of the Divemaster Exam.
