Rescue Diver
Are you ready to be a Rescue Diver?
Become equipped to prepare for, prevent, and manage dive emergencies – serious in nature yet still great fun – it enables you to perform rescues and assists, whilst managing emergency situations and administrating first aid.
You will improve your skills and gain confidence, preparing you to move to higher levels of training.

Whats Involved?
The PADI Rescue Diver course is run over 3 days, and you will need a valid CPR & First Aid certificate to start the course. You can complete our 1-day EFR course if you do not yet have a certificate.
The program covers theory, as well as pool training sessions and rescue scenarios.
- Self-rescue.
- Recognize and manage stress in other divers.
- Emergency management and equipment.
- Rescue panicked divers.
- Rescue unconscious divers.
- Continue your training to a professional level with entry to the PADI Divemaster course.
It all starts when you learn new skills in the pool and practice in this controlled, calm environment which makes them easier to master. Your instructor will then simulate different scenarios for you to handle – teaching you to think before you act! Most importantly, it will prepare you for practicing skills in the ocean.
After completing the theory and training session, you will be ready to handle the scenarios that take place during 2 sea dives.
We run our courses on the dates that best suit you. Simply email our bookings office on [email protected] and give them the dates you wish to be here. The course price does not include any of the park fees, or your MPA dive permit (in case you have one already)…
There are two options for you. You may select to do the theory through our Virtual Classroom and learn in the comfort of your home, then do the practical training with us in Sodwana, or at any PADI Dive Center. If you prefer, you can also do the full course, including theory, once you are here.
Watch the Rescue Diver DVD and complete the knowledge reviews in the manual, while learning all that you need for preventing and handling dive emergencies. Together with your instructor, you will look at the psychology of a rescue, how to be prepared for an emergency and raise your general awareness in spotting potential issues. These are just some of the topics covered. Your instructor will go over the theory and conduct a final exam with you. You will also get to put your new knowledge into practice, by drawing up an emergency action plan.
Participants need to be 12 years or older and have at least PADI (Junior) Advanced Diver or the equivalent.
Participants younger than 15 will receive the PADI Junior Rescue Diver certification. If you’re under 18 you will need a parent or guardian to sign your paperwork.
Answer all the questions on the PADI Medical Statement and if you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you’ll need a doctor to give you a signed ‘fit to dive’ medical form.
The medical certificate must be less than 12 months old.
You cannot sign your own form if you are a doctor.
If you are a PADI Adventure Diver with the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive, you may also do this course. You must have proof of CPR & First Aid training (within the last 24 months) or do the PADI EFR course together with the Rescue Diver course.
Your 2 qualifying dives, full gear hire, PADI certification and 4 nights in one of our Safari Tents. Bring your own bedding or request bedding unless upgrading to a cabin.
For a discounted, additional cost you may upgrade to a Standard Cabin or Ensuite Cabin if you prefer.
The price includes the online PADI Rescue Diver ‘e-manual’.
This qualification allows you to obtain your Master Scuba Diver certification once you have 5 or more specialties.
You are now able to enroll for the PADI Divemaster course once you have a minimum of 40 dives logged.
