PADI Dive Master Course

The PADI Divemaster course is both challenging and rewarding. It is also the first step to becoming a PADI Professional.

This internationally recognized certification can lead to employment worldwide and a lifetime of adventure. Run over 3 weeks, the course gives you ‘hands on’ training. Not only do you gain valuable experience working in an actual dive resort environment, but you will make great friends for life!

Why Do It?

The Divemaster certification is the first level in diving leadership. PADI has designed the course to provide you with the necessary skills to organize, conduct and supervise diving activities. You’ll also act as an instructor’s assistant and gain valuable experience if you’re thinking of continuing on to becoming an instructor yourself.

  • Supervise dives and guide qualified divers on scuba dives.
  • Conduct the PADI Scuba Review (aka refresher course)
  • Work anywhere in the world as a PADI Professional.

Whats Involved

Theory

The course builds problem solving skills, furthering your training with accident management and prevention. Covering supervisory situations with students and certified divers, while expanding your knowledge and developing your leadership skills, you’ll be a role model who not only follows responsible dive practices, but shows care for the marine environment.

Necessary materials, the PADI Divemaster ‘Crewpak’, (PADI branded shoulder bag, your manual, the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving and handy Knowledge Review Workbook), can be arranged through us in advance.

Practical

The Water Skills Development and Stamina training takes place in our swimming pool. Your instructor will conduct dive skill workshops to help you develop ‘demonstration-quality’ skills.  The course includes a mapping project, how to give a Dive Briefing, a search & recovery scenario and a deep dive scenario. You will assist an instructor (with real students) on an entire Open Water Diver course, while assisting on another ‘higher level’ course and guiding certified divers on a dive.

We run our Divemaster course on the dates that best suit you in our low season periods. Simply email our bookings office on [email protected] and give them the dates you wish to be here. They will check availability and advise you on the course start date.

Why not get a head start and do you theory online? Just mention that you would like to do this, and we will be happy to help.

Please Note:

The course price does not include any of the park fees or your MPA dive permit.

To qualify as a PADI Divemaster, you must:

Our course includes all your qualifying dives, PADI Divemaster Crew pack and 21 nights in one of our Safari Tents. Please remember that you need to bring your own bedding for the tents, but you may upgrade to a Standard Cabin or Ensuite Cabin if you prefer.

Meals are not included however, so be sure to book this if needed.

As a Divemaster, you will need to have your own dive equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, and weight-belt).  As a PADI professional, you also need other tools of the trade such as a compass and SMB.

Once successfully completing of the course, you will be required to register with PADI and pay an application fee. This is paid directly to PADI and best done by giving them your credit card details.

This qualification is the step before becoming a PADI Open Water Instructor and once certified as a DM, you only need to log a minimum of 100 dives before you are able to look at enrolling on an IDC  (PADI Instructor Development Course).
